Tom Burton

Tom joined the business in 2006 at the end of our first trading year and has since played a key role in developing the way we advise our clients. He has over 25 years M&A experience and has been leading advisory mandates for management teams and owner-managers for the past decade.

Acting across all sectors and European markets, Tom has completed over 100 transactions, with some of his best known deals including, WM Morrison, The NEC Group, PureGym, Envirotainer, Farrow & Ball and Pepe Jeans Group.

Prior to Jamieson Tom has worked as Finance Director of a group of travel technology businesses, before which he trained in the private equity lead advisory team at KPMG. He has a BA in Business Studies and Information Systems from the University of Sheffield. Tom has been a Partner at Jamieson for the past 10 years. 

Jonny Jones

Jonny is a qualified Chartered Accountant and joined the firm from Grant Thornton’s M&A team. He has worked with numerous Boards and Management teams advising in a buy-side, sell-side and restructuring capacity before specialising in advising on management incentive plan arrangements in the US and UK. He currently leads our US office.

Jonny has also carried out a secondment to the business support unit investment team in Lloyds Bank helping to structure capital reorganisations. 

He obtained a BA in Philosophy from the University of Durham and also holds the US FINRA Investment Banking Series 79 and 63 licenses.

David Kirkpatrick

David has over 15 years corporate finance experience and has completed over 100 management advisory projects since joining the firm in 2013.

David is currently head of our UK mid-market practice. Recently he has advised management teams on transactions including Anthesis (buyout backed by The Carlyle Group), Acuity Knowledge Partners (Permira), CFC Underwriting (Vitruvian Partners & EQT Partners), Optegra (Mid-Europa) and Vixio (Perwyn).

He is also experienced in M&A lead advisory and has acted for founder shareholders on the sale of several mid-market UK businesses to private equity including Anthesis (Palatine minority investment in 2021) and Endeavour Insurance Services (JC Flowers buyout in 2019).

He is a qualified chartered accountant and previously worked at Barclays Capital and Cavendish Corporate Finance.

Ian Jamieson

Ian established the firm in 2005 after having identified a gap in the market for an independent corporate finance adviser to management teams.  

Ian has over thirty years of corporate finance experience and has completed over 250 transactions. He is well known to both the corporate and private equity communities and has a wealth of transaction experience ranging from multi-billion pound cross border buyouts, to deals at the smaller end of the spectrum. Transactions include household names such as Vue Cinemas, Akzo Nobel, Miller Homes, Cognita, Neptune Oil & Gas, Intertrust and Phadia.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, he was Chief Executive of Deloitte Corporate Finance and is a Chartered Accountant.

Jack Yang

Jack joined Jamieson in 2017 and has advised over 30 management transaction. Whilst he provides research, analysis, modelling work to support the team in transaction execution he has also been supporting teams in M&A roll up opportunities. Recent projects include, LGC, Froneri, Sykes Cottages and Kellas.

Prior to Jamieson, Jack has worked at EdirectInsure Group as a venture development analyst in Hong Kong, and at Silicon Valley Bank as part of their venture and growth capital team in London.

Jack graduated with a MSc in Management from Imperial College London and holds a BSc in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Stephen Maxwell

Stephen has over 10 years’ experience of advising on mergers and acquisitions and private equity backed transactions and has completed over 80 management advisory projects. He has particular experience in advising management teams on public-to-private transactions as well as infrastructure and long-term asset deals.

Recent experience includes advising the management teams of Ideagen plc on the take-private by Hg, Morrisons plc on the take-private by CD&R, PTSG in connection with the investment by Warburg Pincus and Macquarie and Norgine Europe B.V in connection with the investment by Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

Stephen is a qualified solicitor and previously worked in the private equity teams at Latham & Watkins and Dickson Minto where he acted for both leading private equity houses and management teams. 

Stuart Coventry

Stuart is CEO and is a founding partner of the firm.  Stuart has over 20 years’ experience in private equity advisory and has completed over 200 transactions across the UK, US and Continental Europe. He leads advisory mandates spanning traditional private equity and alternative asset funds.  

As well as supporting management teams on all aspects of capital structuring and deal terms, Stuart’s passion is to develop the firm’s global management advisory practice for combining local market knowledge with a global perspective.

Prior to Jamieson, Stuart was in the private equity advisory team at Arthur Andersen and Deloitte.

Stuart qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen and is a graduate with a BSc and Masters in Business Studies at Southampton University.
